Aiki Extensions Team Pursues Peace in Six Nations

Together with Aiki Corps volunteer vet Mark Walsh and recently certified TCM practitioner Chris Randle, AE President Don Levine recently completed a peace-building tour that encompassed the Feb 24-5 UKAE seminar, attended by Jose Bueno and Paul Linden as well as an array of British aikido stars; a two-day seminar in Amman with aikidoka from Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Europe; stunning ki transmissions of the Giza Pyramid; seven classes in seven days in Israel and Palestine; and aiki workshops and classes in Addis Ababa and Awassa, Ethiopia. The tour’s highlights included a bicommunal workshop at Maayan Zvi kibbutz, with more than five dozen Arabs and Jews training together under Eytan Ben Meir and Hanna Jiryis; kyu tests at two AE-supported dojos, Salaam Shalom Aikido-Shuafat and the Youth Campus Peace Dojo in Awassa; an aiki workshop for members of the Interfaith Peace-Building initiative in Addis Ababa; and confirmation of budding partnership with kindred NGOs: Danny Hakim’s Budo for Peace (www.budoforpeace.org), the Peres Center for Peace (www.peres-center.org), and the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative.
