A staple in any Aikido book collection, this book is the first of several of Shioda Sensei's books translated into English for mass market distribution. Coverage is provided for Aikido history and evolution, philosophies and basic techniques. Well illustrated.

Review by: Kirk Rains
I have the 1977 edition; I believe it is the paperback version. It supplements Shioda’s book, Aikido: The Complete Basic Techniques. I enjoy this book, as the others I have, and use it with the others to gain differing perspectives on the techniques and their applications. Good read and photos. Initially difficult comprehension for novice beginners, but after some dojo time it comes together.
